This article provides an overview of Bp Premier's most useful supplied database queries.
Where do I find the queries supplied with Bp Premier?
A number of useful queries are provided with a Bp Premier installation. These can be found in the folder C:\Program Files\Best Practice Software\BPS\SuppliedQueries.
- Select Utilities > Search from the main menu to view the Database Search screen.
- Select load query. The file explorer will open.
- Browse to the SQL query file you want to load and select Open. The query will be loaded into the SQL query box and can be modified before running if necessary.
- Click Run Query.
Common and Useful Queries
An example of a useful query for your practice to run is 'Active patients who have not had a visit in the last 12 months and have no future appointments and were not created in the last 6 months'. This query can assist your practice in deactivating patients who have not visited your practice in some time, and can be marked as inactive. Common and useful queries that can be advantageous to run in Bp Premier include:
- Patients with no ethnicity recorded
- Patients without email recorded
- Patients with a Health Care Card
- Patients who turned 4 last month
- Patients with a Pensioner concession Card
- Patients who've been billed a 731 over 3 months ago and haven't been billed a 731 in the last 3 months
- Patients 45 - 49 with an appointment on a given day who haven't been billed a 701, 703, 705 or 707 in the past year
- Patients 75 or over who have never had a Health Assessments
- Patients over 75 with an appointment on a given day who haven't been billed a 701, 703, 705 or 707 in the past year
- Patients who have been invoiced for item 721 or 723

PIP QI and Bp Queries
Quality improvement is the cornerstone of effective primary care. The Practice Incentive Program (PIP) is a major focus for general practitioners. Bp Premier includes a variety of useful queries for generating reports on improvement measures, which, like all other queries, can be customised to meet your specific requirements.
Common queries you might find useful when preparing your PIP QI data set include:
- Patients with Diabetes with no HBA1C recorded
- Patients With No Smoking History Recorded
- Patients over 65 with flu immunisation in past years
- Patients with Diabetes and flu immunisation
- Patients with diabetes and BMI over 30
- Female Patients with a cervical smear investigation received and up to date
- Patients with a diagnosis of Diabetes with blood pressure recorded
