How do I charge for partial quantities?

For myPractice versions prior to version 4.6.0.12 only. Bp Allied version 5 accepts partial quantities in the Invoice Quantity field.

Prior to version 5 of Bp Allied there was no way to Invoice part quantities, say 0.5 for a half hour session. So how do you charge for something that you may have a standard fee for say, $100 per hour but only lasted for half that time? Or it maybe that you charge for a number of units, say 20 but occasionally you may need to charge for 22 units?

The way to manage this is to create a Product or Service, as applicable for the lowest common denominator. In the examples above that would be minutes or units.

Example 1:

Charging for a written report that may take an unspecified length of time. For this you could charge by minutes or charge to the nearest quarter hour.

Create a Written Report (per 1/4hr) product in System > Data Maintenance > Products and Services at say $35 per 15 mins unit

When charging for this, add the Written Report (per 1/4 hr) product to the invoice and put in the number of quarter hours used, say 7 if it took an hour and 3/4's.

Example 2:

Charging for Botox by the unit. So, you may have a series of services with multiples of units, 10 or 20 etc. But, what if you use 22 units?

Create a product for Botox/Unit at whatever the per unit cost is, in System > Data Maintenance > Products and Services at say $5 per unit for our example

Then when charging for this, add the Botox/Unit services to your invoice and update the quantity to 22
