Bp Comms for Clinical

Practices with a legacy, clinical-only Bp Premier licence will be able to use either Bp SMS or the Best Health App to send:

  • clinical communication (results and clinical messages)
  • clinical reminders (for example, a reminder that a patient's cervical screening is due)
  • health awareness information (such as health information leaflets).

Practices with a full Bp Premier licence are also able to send appointment reminders. However, as appointment reminders are a Bp Comms feature tied to the management module, they are not available to sites with a legacy, clinical-only Bp Premier licence.

Once Department of Health funding of electronic prescribing has ended, Bp Comms will also be required for sending electronic prescription tokens. See Set up Electronic Prescribing for more information.

Using Bp Comms for electronic prescribing only

The same processes and workflows for setting up Bp Comms apply to practices with a legacy, clinical-only Bp Premier licence, and practices using a full Bp Premier licence.

However, if your practice only requires Bp Comms for sending electronic prescriptions once Department of Health funding ends, you will not need to:

  • Choose any consent or enrolment settings on the configuration screen
  • Create any templates
  • Record consent via the patient demographic window.
