MyMedicare is a new voluntary patient registration model. It aims to strengthen the relationship between patients, their general practice, general practitioner, and primary care teams.
MyMedicare information is sourced from Medicare systems managed by Services Australia and includes the patient's Registration date, Practice Name, Practice Address, and preferred GP name, if provided.

MyMedicare Practice FAQ
From on July 1, 2023, General Practices can begin the MyMedicare registration process. Visit the website of the Department of Health and Aged Care to determine whether your Practice is eligible to register for MyMedicare.
Registration requests are aggregated and updated daily through the practice's MyMedicare in HPOS.

Yes, MyMedicare will have the functionality to automatically acknowledge registrations for that practice.
The organisation register lists all practice-provider relationships, allowing for the registration of providers who work at multiple practices.
A doctor may be listed as a Preferred Provider at any practice, including multiple practices, which patients can access through their MyMedicare account in MyGov or the Express App.
The MyMedicare portal for both providers and patients will include a withdrawal feature that will remove a registration, leaving it blank if the patient has not transferred their registration. Withdrawal actions will be followed by notification to either party via the MyMedicare portal.
The organisation register is neutral in terms of the employment relationship between a practice and its doctors. Practitioners are listed as 'Providers' in the organisation register only. Being listed as a provider who delivers services for that practice is a prerequisite for MyMedicare's availability as a preferred provider.
Employees must be added as members of your organisation in PRODA and granted the relevant permissions (called attributes by PRODA) such as 'HPOS MyMedicare Organisation Staff' and 'Patient Functions MyMedicare' in order to access these MyMedicare functions in HPOS.
