Online Appointment Types

This article explains how to set up current appointments or create new appointment types for online booking.

IMPORTANT New patients will need to be manually created by the practice, the only way patients will match is if they are exact.

Before you begin

Leave Activate Online Booking under the Online booking menu set to 'disabled' until you have completed setting up your appointments for online booking.

In the top-right of Bp Omni, select your profile icon, then select Settings.

Set up appointment types

IMPORTANT Bp Omni is currently limited to creating online bookings in 15 minute increments (15/30/45/60). This limitation also extends to booking times. For example, bookings can only be made at 10:00, 10:15, 10:30, 10:45 and 11:00

From Settings, Select Config > Appointment Types.

This screen shows all Appointment types that have been set up for the clinic, with their online booking availability displayed on the right hand side, next to status. This list shows all appointment types defined in Bp Omni.

Selecting Online display will give you an overview of how the Online appointments appear to patients who book online, with options to filter and reorder the appointment list.

  1. Clicking on an appointment type allows you to edit the duration, status, icon, and fees that are defaulted to invoice to this appointment type.

  2. Select the appointment type you would like to set up for online booking, or click the plus in the top-right to add an appointment type and then select Set up online.

  3. The Online name and Description are displayed to patients when booking online. You can override the definitions from Bp Omni to suit your online booking, for example, to supply more guidance about why a patient should select a certain appointment type.

    4. Enable the appointment type for new or existing patients

  4. Set Existing Patients to 'On' to make this appointment type bookable online for patients already in the Bp Omni database. The appointment length is shown below. You cannot change this value set in Bp Omni configuration.

  5. Set New Patient to 'On' to make this appointment type bookable online for patients who have not yet registered at your clinic. The time allocation for this appointment can be edited.

    6. The updated appointment length will flow through to the Bp Omni appointment book, so you don't have to worry about double booking.

  6. Supply Additional information for confirmation mail if required.

  7. You can now select which of your providers can be booked online, and create an online booking profile for providers that opt in.
