Set Up Communications

This article explains how to set up SMS and email communications and templates in Bp Omni.


Enable communications

  1. To enable communications, click on your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the screen, then select Settings.
  2. Bp Omni settings menu

  3. Select Config from the menu options on the left, then click Practice & locations. The Practice & locations screen will appear.
  4. Scroll down the page until you see Communications.
  5. Set communication preferences for your practice.

  6. Toggle the Send confirmation of appt switch to Yes.
  7. Click Save.

Create Comms schedules

  1. To create a comms schedule, click on your profile icon located in the top-right corner of the screen, then select Settings.
  2. The settings option is available when you click your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

  3. Select Config from the menu options on the left, then click on Comms schedules.
  4. Click + Schedule in the top-right corner. The Appointment Reminder screen will appear.

  6. Give the reminder a Name.
  7. When to notify

  8. Set the number of day(s) before the appointment that the reminder should be sent.
  9. Enter a Reminder time to schedule when reminders will be sent.
  10. Toggle the What days should reminders be sent? toggle to Advanced to set reminders by week day.
  11. Type of appointments

  12. Choose an appointment Type from the dropdown list of options.
  13. Message content

  14. Select a template from the dropdown list.
  15. NOTE   Comms templates cannot be customised for users in New Zealand.

  16. Click Save.

Set communication preferences for recipients

Communication preferences are set when editing the patient, client, organisation or individual's demographic details from the Address book.

Patient communication preferences are set when editing patient details.

Select EMAIL, SMS or OPTOUT from the dropdown selection for:

  • Appointment reminders
  • Appointment confirmations
  • Clinical reminders
  • Billing correspondence
  • Online forms.
