Create a custom preparation

You can create custom forms of medications or generic compounds if you cannot find the desired formulations in MIMS or NZULM.

If you need to add the medication to Bp VIP.net, select Setup > Medical > Custom Medications to open the Maintain Custom Medications screen. Click New and enter a name for the Medication. Tick Statim drug if the new medication is to be administered statim. Click Formulations.

If the medication already exists, select Setup > Custom Formulations.

The Maintain Custom Formulations screen will be displayed. Click New. The Details tab will take focus.
Select the Medication that comprises this formulation pack.
Select the Form the medication takes. To create a new form, right-click in the Form field and select Maintain List.
Enter the Strength of the medication per dose (for example, ml if the Form is 'drops', or mg if the Form is 'tablet').
Enter any Dose Instructions for the formulation and Directions for Use.
Enter any additional prescriber Notes for the medication. Notes will not be printed on the script.
Tick Print Separately if you want this script printed on its own.
Select the Generics and Classifications tab. If the formulation is part of a Generic Compound, or can be assigned a Drug Classification, click Add to add to those lists.
Select the Packs tab and click New Pack. Enter the Units per pack, the No. of packs in a prescription, and the default number of Repeats. Click Ok.
Click OK to save the custom formulation.
