Topaz Service Pack 1 (2.1.529.008) (31 May 2022)

Topaz Service Pack 1 (2.1.529.008) contains changes for Australian Bp VIP.net users, including:

  • Full support for Medicare Web Services (MWS), the new technology for Services Australia online functions, including verification and eligibility checking, and bulk bill, patient claiming, and Eclipse.
  • Private inpatient claims can now be transmitted as an IMC (Inpatient Medical Claim) for patients who are not eligible under their health fund to claim for the specified service. The patient pays the full amount and is rebated the Medicare subsidy by Medicare. Previously these could only be transmitted using the PCI claiming functionality.
  • You can now manually create batches of items from the Batch Preview screen. In prior versions, users had to contact Bp VIP.net Support for assistance creating a manual batch for items still inside the two-year window for submission.
  • Version Topaz Service Pack 1 restores the ability to create a scheduled task to export financial data to a Xero account. Scheduled exports to Xero were temporarily unavailable in version Topaz.

Best Practice Software strongly recommend that you review the release notes and the new articles so you are familiar with the changes under MWS, particularly PRODA and B2B device registration.

Topaz Revision 2 (2.1.526.057) (14 October 2021)

Topaz revision 2 (2.1.526.057) is a revision for Australian users of Bp VIP.net, and allows users to enable real-time prescription monitoring (RTPM) functionality for QLD, SA and NSW customers. For our Victorian sites, you may already know this functionality as 'Safescript (NDE precheck)'.

How to upgrade and enable RTPM in Bp VIP.net:

  1. Run the Topaz Revision 2 upgrade following the instructions in the release notes.
  2. Run the December 2021 MIMS update. You must run the MIMS update after running the Topaz Revision 2 upgrade, to correctly import drugs flagged under the RTPM system.
  3. Enable RTPM in Bp VIP.net for prescribers in Setup > Providers > This Clinic > Internal.
