Add an employer

You can quickly record employer details when completing an ACC claim, but you can also record common employers as an organisation. The employer is available for selection whenever you are required to nominate a patient's employer in Bp VIP.net.

When do I need to add an employer?

ACC claims require a patient's employer contact details, including address and phone number.

If you want to redirect fees and balances of fees to an employer, you must set up the employer as an organisation. You can then assign a unique invoice template to the employer, and set batching and redirection defaults.

Add an employer

IMPORTANT   Bp VIP.net allows you change the Role of an organisation at any time. However, once you have performed batching or redirection on an employer, changing the role will create inconsistencies in Bp VIP.net's financials. If you have wrongly assigned a role, tick Deactivate Organisation and recreate the organisation with the correct role.

  1. Press F2 to open the Search screen.
  2. Type in a descriptive name for the organisation in the Search text field. Tick New Organisation. The Organisation Details screen will open at the Details tab with the name you just typed in the Name field, ready to be completed.
  3. Select a Role of 'Employer'.
  4. Enter an identifiable short Code for the employer. The code is used in Bp VIP.net screens such as SetupCharging.
  5. Tick Allow debts to be redirected.
  6. Complete the contact information and statement defaults in the Details tab as for any organisation.
  7. Select the Charging Details tab.
  8. Add Insurer Charging Details tab

  9. Leave the Batching Method field blank. Select the invoice Template to use if invoices for this employer are batched.
  10. Leave the Batch Settings, Batch Identification, Batch Grouping, and Subsidiser Details fields blank.
  11. In the Redirection Settings section, select Percentage, set to 100%, and round up to nearest 1c.
  12. NOTE  Operators can still make changes to the redirection amount on individual invoices.

  13. Select Base calculations on Fee.
  14. Invoicing is normally set to 'Automatically print invoice after patient invoice', but this setting is practice-dependent.
  15. Select the invoice to use when printing from the F5 or F8 screens from the For invoices to this Redirector use this template field.
  16. Click OK.

You now redirect to this employer from the Consultation (F5) screen.
