Utilities are available for Bp VIP.net administrator users from the File > Utilities menu.
IMPORTANT Access to the Utilities menu should only be granted to users who require administrator privileges, not general staff. Some of the functions require guidance from Best Practice Software Support, because they may involve irreversible changes to the Bp VIP.net database.
Option |
Description |
---|---|
Import Licence |
Imports a valid Bp VIP.net licence, for example, if you purchase an additional module. |
Reset Edit-Limiting Module |
If you have set your practice's Module editing time limits, this function resets the time limits to the default value. Before you can run this function, you must contact Best Practice Software specialist product support and obtain a reset file. |
Audit Log |
Displays an audit trail for transactions, bookings, and logins from any Bp VIP.net workstation. You can export an audit trail to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. You can inspect who modified an invoice in the Other Notes column. |
Merge Patients / Organisations |
IMPORTANT Always back up the database before running a merge. Read the warning notice in the Merge Patients or Organisations screen. Merges patient and organisation records that have been duplicated. Only the details in the selected 'master' record will be retained. |
Workstations in Use |
Lists the workstations currently active and the logged-in user. |
Live Update |
Opens the VIP Live Update function, which downloads updates to components of the Bp VIP.net database, such as letter templates or ACC charges, as well as updates to MIMS, NZULUM, and MBSE if your practice uses those coding databases. |
Tidy Australian Addresses |
Bp VIP.net AU only. Maps addresses from Patient Details that do not match an entry in the Australian address reference table, for example, a misspelled street name, a number that does not exist, or a missing postcode. Bp VIP.net will suggest closely matching addresses from the reference. |
Tidy File Numbers |
Renumbers patient file numbers for a provider's patients, from the most recent correct file number supplied. |
Maintain MBSE Code |
MBSE database codes are not edited from Setup > Charges, but this function. You can add, modify, and delete MSBE codes. |
Import Medical Notes |
Imports medical notes as files exported from another installation of Bp VIP.net, or as documents from a scanner. |
Add Drugs and Problems to User Dictionary |
Imports drugs and problems defined in Setup > Medical > into the logged-in user's dictionary, for use in patient notes and the word processor. |
Serial Connection Tester |
Tests a computer's serial connection to a device, such as a Lens Meter. |
VIP Service Controller |
Installs, starts, and stops the VIP service, which performs functions like detecting and importing an RSD file upload. Also allows you to update the Bp VIP.net configuration file. Best Practice Software Support may ask you to access this function during troubleshooting. |
Clear Waiting Room |
Clears all patients currently in the Waiting Room. You can filter the patients to clear by page-owner. NOTE This function will over-ride the Allow immediate end of Appointment from this stage flag defined on the Facility Preference screen when you set up staging. If you clear a patient from a stage that is not considered the end of an appointment, you will have to manually restage and close the appointment manually, or the appointment will remain uncompleted in the Bp VIP.net database. |
Post Conversion |
IMPORTANT Only run the post-conversion functions with the assistance of Best Practice Software specialist product support. These functions help clean up a database after conversion from an earlier version of VIP. |
